Check out the opportunities listed in the Transfer Guide to learn
what credit you may receive if you transfer between the colleges and universities
of Ontario. There are suggestions below that will help three groups of students
to use the Guide and a link to information for International
students:
As a student you may want the advantages of combining college and university learning
to experience the best of both worlds. Ontario's colleges and universities are
creating pathways so that students can move from one postsecondary sector to the
other and receive academic credit for the learning they have already achieved.
These pathways are set out in collaborative
agreements that are listed in this guide.
The listed agreements also give you the contact information for people at the
college or university who can tell you more about the collaborative arrangements
and transfer credit. To be absolutely certain about transfer possibilities,
check with the institutions involved.
CAUTION: The pathways described in this Guide are provided for general information and planning. All
pathways are limited to those students who have the prerequisites and attain the academic standing
specified in the agreement. Moreover, even if all prerequisites are met, admission to the destination
program is not guaranteed; admission is generally on a competitive bases. Please contact the Admissions
Office of the "receiving" institution/program that you are considering for more detailed information
about transfer opportunities.
NOTE: The agreement information in this database is provided by the Receiving Institutions. The absence of an agreement in the results does not necessarily mean that transfer is unavailable. It simply indicates that no formal agreement has been established or, if a new agreement is in place, it has not yet been included in the database. Receiving institutions may review situations on request, and credit may ultimately be granted.
NOTE: This Guide does not include the Degree programs offered at Ontario's Colleges. Please see the Ontario College Application Services website for information about Degree programs.
High-school students
High-school students planning your post-secondary education in Ontario, may want to consider a combination of college and university, either sequentially or concurrently. The following searches will help you with your plans.
To see what agreements exist at a particular institution or in a particular discipline, use the university search. At minimum, you must select either a university OR a discipline from the drop-down box to perform the search. You will get all agreements in which each university is involved as either the sending or the receiving institution OR you will get all agreements related to the particular discipline that you selected
Or you can use the college search to get the list of all agreements that each college has as either the sending or receiving institution. At minimum, you must select either a college OR a division to perform the search. You will get all agreements in which each college is involved as either the sending or the receiving institution OR all the agreements related to the division that you selected
If you plan to start your postsecondary education at university and then go on to college, and you want to limit your search to a particular geographic region of Ontario, then select University to College (where college is in a selected region). However, if you plan to start with college before university, then use the College to University (where university is in a selected region).
College Students
As a college student, you may have decided that the practical training and education of your college program might be enhanced by the theoretical learning that you will find at university. The following searches should help you:
For the greatest number of results, use the college-to-university search and select your home college as the sending institution, from the drop-down box. You may then limit the search results by entering more information, such as your discipline or division and a specific university you hope to go to as the receiving institution; or you may increase the results by leaving these fields open as "all"
Use the college-to-university according to region search if you are interested in studying in a particular geographic region of Ontario
University Students
University students who are either about to graduate or in the early stages of university may find helpful direction to future pathways in the Guide. If you want the applied, career-focused learning that is offered in college programmes as a complement to your university experience, the Guide can give you some leads.
There are college-university agreements that will allow you to study concurrently at university and college to earn a both a degree and a diploma. Use the Agreement Type search and select concurrent to get a list of all such agreements
Or you may want to fast-track through an intensive accelerated college program after university. Use the Agreement Type search and select intensive accelerated to get a list of all such agreements
